HOUSTON (March 15, 2012) Mobil Steel International, Inc. continues to assist Houston area youth grow as leaders of tomorrow through sponsorship of Space City Cruiser’s Car Club shows. As a major sponsor for more than the past five years, Mobil Steel helps the Space City Cruisers Car Club donate to the Texas Lions Camp to help children with physical disabilities and diabetes, and helps collect additional funds to provide scholarships to Clear Creek and Galveston school students.

On April 7th the Space City Cruisers Car Club hosts its Spring Extravaganza car show at Walter Hall Park in League City to raise funds for the Texas Lions Camp and for the Vicki Harvey Gibson scholarship fund. Gibson, a long-term member of the car club, worked tirelessly to raise funds for youth causes. The club is honoring Gibson with a scholarship fund in her name. In addition to the April League City car show, the Cruisers will host another League City car show in October and support the Ellington Car Show and North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce Car Show in Kemah. A donation of $17,500 was presented to the Texas Lions Camp from the May 2011 Ellington Car Show.

Mobil Steel general manager Mark Scott actively participates in the car show circuit and has won best of show awards. However, according to Scott, the most satisfying result of the car shows is the community support generated from sponsorships and money raised for charity. “We spend considerable time making sure our cars are in perfect condition and ready to display for the show judges. It is quite satisfying to earn a best of show award,” said Scott. “However, the most satisfying result is when the car show raises funds that can help youth advance their own education or experience a camp environment they would otherwise never experience.”
