HOUSTON (February 11, 2013)– Mobil Steel International, Inc. was named the Associated Builders and Contractors Greater Houston Chapter member company of the year for 2012. Each year ABC Houston recognizes members for outstanding contributions and extraordinary commitment in support of the association’s efforts to protect free market enterprise and business freedoms for commercial and industrial contractors.
Recognition of Mobil Steel was announced at ABC Houston’s membership kickoff breakfast held last month.
ABC Houston president Russell Hamley commended Mobil Steel for commitment as a platinum sponsor of all ABC Houston events in 2012 and active participation on chapter committees, including the ABC Houston board and executive committees. Mobil Steel recruited new members for ABC Houston, recommended a computer consultant that helped the chapter save thousands of dollars in computer service charges and upgraded the ABC Chapter computer network.
Additionally, Mobil Steel actively participated in the ABC chapter “good government” program by attending legislative conferences, interviewing political candidates regarding their positions toward business policy and free enterprise principles. The company invites elected officials to join the Mobil Steel table at ABC events to share ideas and help officials learn about ABC and the construction industry. Also, all eligible employees at Mobil Steel are members of the ABC Political Action Committee (PAC).
Mobil Steel Earns ABC Houston Member of Year Award
Leonard A. Bedell, president and CEO of Mobil Steel, accepted the member company of the year award on behalf of Mobil Steel. Bedell says the company of the year award validates Mobil Steel’s commitment to advance the construction industry. “It is an honor for Mobil Steel to work along side the best contractors in the industry,” Bedell said. “As one of only a handful of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certified steel fabricators in Houston, we work hard every day to demonstrate that we are the most reliable partner. We are pleased to be able to assist ABC Houston in improving the construction industry through better training and improved work processes that help contractors safely deliver quality work.”
Bedell currently serves as treasurer for ABC Houston and served as 2012 vice chair of the ABC Houston PAC. ABC Greater Houston is an affiliate of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., a national association that promotes free market enterprise principles, merit shop concepts and business freedoms of commercial and industrial contractors.
